Cpl. Ervin L. Eiler was in the U.S. Army during WW11 from 1942 – 1945 and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. His wife, Irene Eiler wrote the following about Ervin:

As many WW11 veterans did not talk about their service experiences, Erv shared very little.

He followed the first landing in France in a Light Artillary Division, immediately supporting the Front Line Troops.

He told a nephew that he was more worried about his brother, Raymond Eiler, than he was about himself. Raymond was in the infantry in the front line.

Erv related that the soldiers spirits were lifted when General Patton’s army arrived.
Erv also spoke of the snow and muddy conditions in the winter, in Belgium, during the Battle of the Bulge.
